We already mentioned Pimento on this site and promised some mocktail recipes next week, with ginger as one of the main ingredients. The mocktail that kicks off  is the pimentada. This cocktail is actually very easy to make, but tastes delicious. It is mainly the combination of the hot & spicy ginger and pepper from the pimento and the fresh, slightly sour lime, which ensure that almost all of your taste palette is stimulated. The salt on the edge of your glass creates an extra, surprising touch.

What do you need?

  • 1 Bottle (25cl.) of Pimento
  • 2 cl. lime syrup (bought in the shop or selfmade with the recipe underneath)
  • Some ice cubes
  • Salt
  • A few mint leaves

How do you make it?

  • First you make a salt rim at the top of a large cocktail glass. You do this by moistening the edge of your glass with a lime and then pressing it into some  salt on a plate.
  • Let the edge of your glass dry for a few minutes and put some ice cubes in the glass.
  • Pour 2 cl. of the lime syrup in the glass
  • Fill up with a bottle of pimento (25 cl.)
  • Finish with a mint leaf.
  • Well, that was easy! Enjoy!

Recipe lime syrup (35 cl.)

What do you need?

  • 100 ml. fresh lime juice
  • 80 ml. water
  • 200 gr. sugar

How do you make it?

  • Pour all ingredients into a bowl
  • Bring everything gently to the boil while you keep stirring (the sugar has to be dissolved before cooking)
  • When the syrup is boiling, let it simmer for about two minutes
  • Let the syrup cool down
